Year Societies
A President and Vice-President are elected every year in Winter semester of the previous year, with the exception of the following year’s first-year class which is elected in the ASUS Fall By-Election (along with any years that remain open following the Winter election) to represent their year to ASUS Assembly. The President and Vice-President of each year then hire a Council and together they form the Year Society for their year. They are responsible for raising class solidarity through events and also responsible for raising money for their class gift at the end of their 4 years. Each year donates a gift back to Queen’s and past gifts have included funds for the restoration of Kingston Hall, the Mark R. Wilson Award and student grants. Past Year Society events have included a Valentine’s Day Formal and Late-Night BBQ outside Alfie’s.
